STUDENTS REVOLT OVER NUDE TEACHER FIRING!

Students Revolt Over Nude Teacher Firing

Sydney, Australia) A 24-year-old primary school teacher at Naraweena Public School, Lynne Tziolas, was fired from her position last week for appearing with her husband in a magazine article titled "Buck Naked Couples Talk About Their Sex Lives."

Mr. and Mrs. Tziolas, both teachers, received a measly $200 for the shoot and were surprised at the reaction. Nonetheless, they said they would do it again.
The article ran interviews with 10 couples about "what they get up to between the sheets" and asked Ms Tziolas and her husband, Antonios, how many times they have sex a week, their favourite body part and the most risque sexual thing they've done.

"Leaving the blinds up and the lights on, which is all the time," Antonios said in response to the last question.
Because Tziolas was fired, her students learned of the magazine article and became upset that she was terminated. Consequently, her students and their parents launched petition drives to get Tziolas reinstated.

The classroom petition allegedly upset the school principal, Julie Organ, to the extent that she took "the book with the petition and ripped out the pages." Organ has referred all questions to the Department of Education.
A spokesman for the department said: "As the situation is complex and not one easily explained to junior primary school age children, it is inappropriate for them to be asked to sign a petition without the advice and guidance of parents."
The Tziolas couple have been overwhelmed by the support from the students, parents and even people on the street. They intend to take legal action to have Mrs. Tziolas reinstated. A meeting with a Teacher's Federation lawyer has been planned.

It will be interesting to see whether the school system caves and Tziolas resumes teaching. Frankly, I think that a student revolt on the firing of a racy teacher in the U.S. would be ignored. Otherwise, Debra Lafave would probably still be teaching. On the other hand, the Aussies seem to be more tuned in to political correctness.

Another facet of the story that the Department of Education should address is the question of why Mr. Tziolas wasn't also fired. As reported, he, too, is a teacher in a nude photo spread.
