Wisdom of the Jewish Buddah as told to XoXo

WISDOM OF THE JEWISH arthritis is this?

Be here now. Be someplace else later. Is that so complicated?

Drink tea and nourish life; with the first sip, joy; with the second sip, satisfaction; with the third sip, peace; with the fourth, a Danish.

Wherever you go, there you are. Your luggage is another story.

Accept misfortune as a blessing. Do not wish for perfect health, or a life without problems. What would you talk about?

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single Oy.

There is no escaping karma. In a previous life, you never called, you never wrote, you never visited. And whose fault was that?

Zen is not easy. It takes effort to attain nothingness. And then what do you have? Bupkis.

The Tao does not speak. The Tao does not blame. The Tao does not take sides. The Tao has no expectations. The Tao demands nothing of others. The Tao is not Jewish.

Breathe in. Breathe out. Breathe in. Breathe out. Forget this and attaining enlightenment will be the least of your problems.

Let your mind be as a floating cloud. Let your stillness be as a wooded glen. And sit up straight. You'll never meet the Buddha with such rounded shoulders.

Deep inside you are ten thousand flowers.
Each flower blossoms ten thousand times.
Each blossom has ten thousand petals.
You might want to see a specialist.

Be aware of your body. Be aware of your perceptions. Keep in mind that not every physical sensation is a symptom of a terminal illness.

The Torah says, Love your neighbor as yourself.
The Buddha says, There is no self.
So, maybe we're off the hook.

My type of dog!

KOOP " I see a diffrent you"

Im in love with the group Koop.

Theyre a cross between lounge, jazz, trance and electronica

Im a huge fan of big arrangements and even though Koops music is a sample base amalgation of god knows everything smooth. Its very easy to take.

They also know not to make the mistake that Sade and the group rand New Heavies w/davenport were with. Even though they were both great in the 90's everyone always says that line " I love Sade but after awhile all the tunes sound the same. This would be true but Koop did what the Brand New Heavies tried to do. A parade of great vocalists. Its always diffrent. Brand New Heavies tried but we got sold on the skills of NDea Davenport who I love and listen to....religiously. We wouldnt let them put her out to pasture. So on Koops album we get so many flavors hell its hard to really choose

and that one song. " I see a diffrent you" Sometimes I think im listening to some really hip Bossa Nova sometimes its lounge jazz its never the same to me and I listen to this song thats on my cover page here a lot!

Man, Its so hard to believe the music is all sampled. The horns, the rhytym section. can u imagine how long it must take to construct a song that way?? I guess thats why there is such a big gap in releases.

But as my friend was saying NOTHING about this group is REAL? Or is it? The guys turn into girls and the male singers sound like females and the music isnt music its samples of great songs recycled refurbished and re published and the public? Loving it

In one of the songs, I think its Koops Island, I could hear a whole john coltrane line. Fasinating.

But what is real are the vocalists...They are always to me perfect.....

Thank you Multiply family...update

Tomorrow I go with Gabe to our therapy. I really like it because the Therapist kinda looks like Ellen DeGeneres and shes very unconventional. I enjoy it and it is something we are doing 2gether. It felt awkward at first tho. kind of sureal. But im kool with it!

Im proud to say that even though I miss some of the perks hes decided to stop DJing over in Ottowa. That was the 6 month period that hed have residency in whatever club he was booked into. Thats basically where the problem began with those party kids they are something over there! and I agreed to start going with him to some of the work he gets here in NY. Im not a club person at all! but I am a person that really values my relationship.

I learned when your mate has a problem you both have one. Yesterday, I took the bar out of the house I gave it to a neighbor and along with it every drop of alcohol has been removed from our residence. I couldnt in good conscience sit and have a drink knowing that drinking to Gabe is a "trigger factor" I learned that term when i was a guest in his group. He goes to group once a week. The therpy team invites you to bring your mate, or signifigent other. I wasnt the only gay person either I met a girl who has a girlfriend in his group and their is another gay couple their as well. Tho i just dont think I jived with them to well. But the girl and I are like kool and she calls every few days and I call her too and we chat and talk about things. Thats kewl!

They also have a group for people who are the spouses or signifigent others of people battling addictions but I cant attend because I work during that time of day.

Oh and I learned It Triggers his use for other things. Thats why they are called trigger factors and hes really trying we are talking more so I figured a team works together so im going to abstain from my after work drink im into cranberry juice. cant say i like it tho but i love him more plus they say alcohol ages you anyway. lol

Also hes working at the family Bodega in Bed Sty with his dad which is why I am up till 3am cause thats when he comes home. His father is so proud of him and I am so happy that things are going well with him and Papi. Even his brother and I have been getting along good. Im teaching him to skateboard and we have a small picnic planned this weekend.

Sometimes I wish things were what they were 8 years ago. Just carefree and no worries but that isnt reality and this is my reality now.

I feel really blessed, lucky whatever adjective you care to use! Just to be able to have gotten thru what at one point seemed an impossible thing. A few of my friends, my real friends the mature ones have really been cool and understand that the party life isnt for everyone and sometimes you have to make changes. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices so you can enjoy a life to gether. tho I dont see any of this as a damn scarifice. A learning experience maybe. Before things change in a way you didnt really want.

Truly, like all things it, the bad passes. It really does and I survived and I had a great support team and nice internet friends and family. My nana who left us in April of last year would have said " God always puts people in your path with better eyesight than yours. Its your own choice to get what you can and put proud under foot to get to the next level. the most loneliest ppl in the world are those that are the proudest. i understand that now.

Who knows if I have left him I would have been only thinking life is suppose to be perfect and thats not the way life is! You cant leave every negative situation you have to really see if its worth saving. To me it was

Which leads me to the point where I have to really thank my Multiply family for the support you gave me during the time Gabe was in re hab. No one really said anything negative or stupid. That has never been my experience on the internet! But I sat today and re read alot of those old blogs and comments and i was like damn! The internet really isnt such a bad place! There are alot of kewl ppl out there in the world.

Thank you.

  • When I was younger I rarely cared how what I said affected people. As I
grew older I learned as the older people use to say "to put a little
salt on my words" I always thought this was hypocritical believeing
nothing but the truth is good enough for some people but, I don't feel
like that anymore. Sometimes people are unduly sensitive. U have to
watch how you criticize them because truthfully they are unbalanced as
hell. Some people " see" into everything and now I feel its just sad.
Being a new yorker we have a rougher accent and sometimes don't come
across as all cuddly and crap (oops their I go) but our hearts are ion
the right place so I'm putting a little salt on my words for some..
    Thanks nana for explaining this

    Love
    What I need is laughter
    Trust
    The feeling of wholeness

FROM THE PHILOSOPHY AND OPINIONS OF MARCUS GARVEY "HISTORY AND THE NEGRO"

    I S T O R Y N O T E S

FROM THE PHILOSOPHY AND OPINIONS OF MARCUS GARVEY
    "HISTORY AND THE NEGRO
    "

    Posted by RUNOKO RASHIDI

To read the histories of the world, peoples and races, written by white men, would make the Negro feel and believe that he never amounted to anything in creation.

History is written with prejudices, likes and dislikes; and there has never been a white historian who ever wrote with any true love or feeling for the Negro.

The Negro should expect but very little by way of compliment from the pen of other races. We are satisfied to know, however, that our race gave the first great civilization to the world; and, for centuries Africa, our ancestral home, was the great seat of learning; and when black men, who were only fit then for the company of the gods, were philosophers, artists, scientists and men of vision and leadership, the people of other races were groping in savagery, darkness and continental barbarism.

White historians and writers have tried to rob the black man of his proud past in history, and when anything new is discovered to support the race's claim and attest the truthfulness of our greatness in other ages, then it is skillfully rearranged and credited to some other unknown race or people.

Negroes, teach your children that they are direct descendants of the greatest and proudest race who ever peopled the earth; and it is because of the fear of our return to power, in a civilization of our own, that may outshine others, why we are hated and kept down by a jealous and prejudiced contemporary world.

The very fact that the other races will not give the Negro a fair chance is indisputable evidence and proof positive that they are afraid of our civilized progression.

Every falsehood that is told by the historian should be unearthed, and the Negro should not fail to take credit for the glorious and wonderful achievements of his fathers in Africa, Europe and Asia.

Black men were so powerful in the earlier days of history that they were able to impress their civilizations, culture and racial characteristics and features upon the people of Asia and Southern Europe. The dark Spaniards, Italians and Asiatics are the colored offsprings of a powerful black African civilization and nationalism. Any other statement by historians to the contrary is "bunk" and should not be swallowed by the enlightened Negro.

When we speak of 400,000,000 Negroes we mean to include several of the millions of India who are direct offsprings of that ancient African stock that once invaded Asia. The 400,000,000 Negroes of the world have a beautiful history of their own, and no one of any other race can truly write it but themselves. Until it is completely and carefully written, for the guidance of our children and ourselves, let us think it.

The white man's history is his inspiration, and he should be untrue to himself and negligent of the rights of his posterity to subordinate it to others, and so also of the Negro. Our history is as good as that of any other race of people, and nothing on this side of Heaven or Hell will make us deny it, the false treaties, essays, speculations and philosophies of others notwithstanding.

Everyone can appreciate the conveniences of public transportation -- even a cat.

Susan Finden wasn't sure where her free-spirited kitty would disappear to every day until the local bus drivers in Plymouth, England revealed to her that Casper has been a regular on the No. 3 bus for the last four years! You read that right. Each morning, the Sun reports, Casper lines up with the paying passengers to await the 10:55 morning service. He takes a seat in the back and enjoys the 11-mile, round-trip route before hopping off to return home. The drivers watch out for the wandering feline and make sure he gets off at the right stop.

A spokesman for the bus company says they're happy to let the 12-year-old cat ride for free. After all, he said, "In cat years he's an OAP [Old Age Pensioner] so he'd get a free bus pass anyway."

Out of the blue and inito the black

Unbelievable how people pop up into our lives out of the blue! I ran into an Uncle of mine Sunday and had nothing better to do than drag him home. OK, Gee looked at me like WTF ??? But I think I just had that need to be around fam.

Was it a disaster, well he was suppose to go home Monday and didn't, then Tuesday and didn't. Finally he had the nerve to ask would I write a letter to Social Services and attach my phone bill and he would pay me 300 dollars month to live here.

It was then my turn to say WTF???

I always knew I was the descendant of unusual and strange people I just didn't know disturbed was an adjective that fits them as well.

So I gave him 5 dollars and told him to keep walking until he finds the nearest subway.....Family that's what ppl really are

SHOULD MANDATORY HIV TESTING BE THE NORM?

CDC Believes that One in Five Infected with HIV Are

Unaware and Routine Testing Could Save Lives

    By Priya David

    • Thousands of Americans become infected with HIV every year, but health officials believe routine testing could save lives. As Priya David reports, making tests mandatory is a controversial solution.

      • Photo

(CBS) After nearly three decades of fighting HIV/AIDS, more than a 140 people in the U.S. are still being infected with the virus every day.

Monica Sweeney of New York City's Department of Health says the most at risk of getting HIV have limited access to medical care and don't find out they are infected until they already have full blown AIDS.

"That means for eight to 10 years they have been giving out HIV, having behaviors that transmit it and many times without their knowledge," Sweeney said.

To combat that, the Centers for Disease Control recommends identifying new cases by systematically testing every patient who steps into an emergency room - without asking the patient. But New York and nine other states are in direct conflict with those guidelines. They mandate what's known as "informed consent," which means health care professionals must explain the test and get the patient's signature, reports CBS News correspondent Priya David.

Saint Vincent Hospital's Dr. Antonio Urbina has been pushing for testing reform because he says informed consent has become a barrier to stopping the virus.

"Anything we can do to normalize testing will increase patients accepting HIV and increase our ability to diagnose it," Urbina said.

But some advocacy groups say informed consent doesn't prevent testing, rather, it helps patients understand their treatment options if they test positive.

"Just saying to someone 'Here's a test, here's a result,' does not make them go into care, does not make them disclose who they are sexually involved with or change behavior," said Marjorie Hill, the CEO with Gay Men's Health Crisis.

But a few hospitals, like one in the Bronx borough of New York have found a way to work within the current rules, and even use modern technology to vastly increase the number of patients tested.

Patients give information through a computer - and doctors say patients feel more comfortable this way.

Since Jacobi instituted its streamlined program and added the computerized consent form three years ago, it's tested more than 26,000 patients and diagnosed 150 with HIV.

"We are finding positive patients who are unaware of their disease status," said Dr. Yvette Calderon, with the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. "That's huge."

A bill to eliminate informed consent was recently introduced in the New York State legislature.

      GOOD FOR THE SOUL

ALWAYS REMEMBER IN LIFE TO BE HONEST AND UPFRONT. iN RELATIONSHIPS THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT WITH OUT THIS U ARE DOOMED TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES OVER AND OVER.

tODAY WE HUNG OUT AND i TALKED TO gEE SERIOUSLY ABOUT EVERYTHING. bEING HUMAN IS ABOUT BEING HUMAN!

      LUST...LIKE A RAGING RIVER....

For some uncanny reason I have found its easier to judge when the shoe is on the other foot.

Today started off really nice and normal ( that is a rare occurence in my world) Normalcy is the one thing Ill lie in a minute ABOUT and say I want but will put forth no effort to acheive even a semblance of...

Sort of like the person who says "i want a job' but only goes looking ....occasionally (my fourth bf was like that)

So, at about 9am, i put last nights dishes in the dishwasher and walked across the street to Tonys, hes dominican and owns the bodega on my block. Thats where you can see everybody in the morning (this is for the single ppls) the post men come their everyday. They dont make alot and some of them are crack heads but if you can get past those character flaws they do get a paycheck. Oh and before I digress, They lie about their job. When me and Gabe were broke up I met one and we hung out. He didnt know that I knew who he was so I said where do u live. Lying shit said the shelter! my egg ...

Anyway, After I ate my brekfast he makes eggs and cheese with jelly on the bread I have been eating that since I was like....maybe 10. I go back home and 2 minutes later Bop rings my bell........

Who is Bop? Bop is the skinnest, cutest, guy god created he has the clearest skin. About my complexion but maybe lighter and hes just cool. I wired his jaw shut in 10th grade. lol not a good fighter but hes great at everything else

      Now, heres the problem!!!

We were in the long hall that leads into the kitchen, the dishwasher is going and we are like really close and I swear I got so turned on!

      This never happens really.

Gabe was in bed sleeping and I could hear his never ending tape its a reel to reel ( i swear I have yet to see the end of that damn 12 our tape.) it was playing one of his mixes. it was a smooth ,jazzy house number, the sexy type. It was so hot in that hall, the air condition wasnt even on. And for a split moment , maybe for about 3 or 4 seconds I was tempted to just have sex in the hallway.... and pray Gabe didnt wake up to go to the bathroom.

THATS SO FUCKED UP!!! BUT SO HUMAN

I know thats so fucked up But I felt just that way. We were so close and were about the same height 5ft 9 or 10 and he looked dead in my eyes .Then for a second just a second I wished me and Bop went together for just a lil while. iT SO WOULD HAVE BEEN ALL RIGHT

However, for the very first time sadly, I felt my BF was just getting old. Hes only I think 45 he was born 1964 and myself 74. But it was just a brief, fleeting moments thought more importantly I didnt act on the impulse...oooh I looked at his skinny jeans in a burnt I guess crayola sienna and his jordans and I just wanted to have sex ....in the middle summer ....in the hallway ....of my house then take a shower, drink some cold wine, smoke a ciggrette ( which i rarely do) and go back to damn bed.

I gave him what he came for .....which was the remote to the old PS2 which no one ever plays anyway. He said " kells give me ur number I lost the old one and like a fool I did. We talked about his wisdom tooth getting taken away. I so knew I should have said "No"... Cuz this katt upstairs said" hey give me your number and i was like "Hell no mother fucker" but to Bop I just took his phone ( it was green my fave and yeah T mobile and put my numbers in it. Feeling a lil wrong and enjoying the feeling) Plus I felt so young like back in the day.

3pm my phone rings and Bop says are you in Flatbush? And just the sound of his voice I swear I felt the stirrings of life in regions I wont mention in this blog. Plus I was standing in the cereal aisle of the associated supermarket trying to figure weather we would eat Captain Crunch and kind of annoyed that I cant find Frankenberry cereals anymore.

I wasnt in Flatbush he wanted to hang out on Flatbush ave cuz his girl was going to the city but I was in Crown Heights. Plus i wouldnt have trusted with my hormones running fuckin amuck to get in a tight proximity with him.

Now the thing is im Monogamous and ive been with Gee 8 years on september 13 it will be 9. I only felt that like 9 years ago when I screwed someone in the living room and got caught. Basically, he just walked in and looked so hurt I have never cheated on anyone again. That look haunts me. It has nothing to do with being damn virtuous. It has to do with not hurting people granted I was younger and this guy and me were living in Jacksonville Fla ( good times!) plus u gotta be careful cause u just do these days. You have to be fair to people.

So we talked and everytime he calls I like know that if and when I ever decide to have an affair hes the only guy I would have one with. But it was a fleeting moment. I read about fleeting moments once.....

actually I just would do it and not look for anything emotionally back...

Theres this song I love that goes

      "lust, like a raging river

      body language cant erase

      you

      your the quiet shy type

      Fate

i was sold for the moment

baby tell me all about it

      while im makin love 2 u 2

      ttell me all about it

      love like a raging river

      body language

      u

      your the quiet shy type

      me?

I was sold for the moment......."

STUDENTS REVOLT OVER NUDE TEACHER FIRING!

Students Revolt Over Nude Teacher Firing

Sydney, Australia) A 24-year-old primary school teacher at Naraweena Public School, Lynne Tziolas, was fired from her position last week for appearing with her husband in a magazine article titled "Buck Naked Couples Talk About Their Sex Lives."

Mr. and Mrs. Tziolas, both teachers, received a measly $200 for the shoot and were surprised at the reaction. Nonetheless, they said they would do it again.
The article ran interviews with 10 couples about "what they get up to between the sheets" and asked Ms Tziolas and her husband, Antonios, how many times they have sex a week, their favourite body part and the most risque sexual thing they've done.

"Leaving the blinds up and the lights on, which is all the time," Antonios said in response to the last question.
Because Tziolas was fired, her students learned of the magazine article and became upset that she was terminated. Consequently, her students and their parents launched petition drives to get Tziolas reinstated.

The classroom petition allegedly upset the school principal, Julie Organ, to the extent that she took "the book with the petition and ripped out the pages." Organ has referred all questions to the Department of Education.
A spokesman for the department said: "As the situation is complex and not one easily explained to junior primary school age children, it is inappropriate for them to be asked to sign a petition without the advice and guidance of parents."
The Tziolas couple have been overwhelmed by the support from the students, parents and even people on the street. They intend to take legal action to have Mrs. Tziolas reinstated. A meeting with a Teacher's Federation lawyer has been planned.

It will be interesting to see whether the school system caves and Tziolas resumes teaching. Frankly, I think that a student revolt on the firing of a racy teacher in the U.S. would be ignored. Otherwise, Debra Lafave would probably still be teaching. On the other hand, the Aussies seem to be more tuned in to political correctness.

Another facet of the story that the Department of Education should address is the question of why Mr. Tziolas wasn't also fired. As reported, he, too, is a teacher in a nude photo spread.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR ...you just may get it

This job will drive me crazy in the long run. Impossible. Im not even sleeping enough I dont think. I think u hate your job when the sun comes up and you just dont want to get out of bed. Its getting like that I needed the money, i asked for the raise and the promotion and now Im like shit. I wanna quick.

You really know its bad when you sit down and try to draw up a budget to what your life would be like with less than everytime you do it you get a migrane headache then get sleepy.

I wont complain cause so many of my good friends and associates are having a roughpatch with this recession. They are working jobs that they are very much overqualified for. Some arent working at all. The jobs that are out their if you are over qualified why would they hire you? they know as soon as a break comes your out. So its rough.

I think unless your on some sort of fixed income you will feel the recession I actually am feeling this recession oh well

Rapper gets 2 years for cop killing song

Rapper Gets 2 Years for Cop-Killing Song

      Comments (572)

A Florida rapper is sentenced to two years in prison for a song called 'Kill Me a Cop' that he produced as a teenager.

Authorities say 20-year-old Antavio Johnson raps about killing two Lakeland, Fla., police officers in the tune, which cops found on MySpace while surfing for gang-related activity.

Johnson pleaded no contest to two counts of
corruption by threat of a public servant and was sentenced to two years in prison last month. He was already in jail on a cocaine charge at the time. ...

Singing about killing a cop was not Johnson's first mistake. Pleading guilty and not hiring a lawyer were. Just ask Ice Cube and N.W.A., who sang '%#@* tha Police' as a form of police protest more than 20 years ago.

Back in 1988, N.W.A had everyone from the FBI to the Secret Service breathing down its neck and lawsuits galore. If someone could have figured out a way to charge the group with a crime, lock 'em up and throw away the key, I'm sure it would've happened.

According to the Daily Beast, Johnson was trying to make a similar lyrical protest when he wrote 'Kill Me a Cop,' about two police officers who harassed him.

The song announced: "Im'ma kill me a cop one day." It called out two specific officers by name, both of whom would be shot with a "glock" in the "dome" if they ever "get my timing wrong." The best part is not the snappy lyrics. If you Google this kid's name, you'll see that he's a self-proclaimed Christian rapper.

Anyway, did Johnson deserve a two-year sentence for some stupid lyrics he wrote as a teenager? No, of course not.

Should we be surprised that a judge would hand down such a harsh sentence? No. Not at all. To quote professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.: "This is what happens to black men in America!"

After all, there's some real irony here. This case is not about free speech and it's not about a legitimate threat to a police officer's life. It's about Johnson and the N.W.A. and Gates and countless others who have been complaining about an unfair justice system for decades. At the root of this system is institutionalized police harassment of black people.

But wait a minute, you say. Shouldn't Johnson get some punishment for making a specific threat at these cops? Yes. If you threaten a cop, there should be consequences. But two years in jail for a song that was never played on the radio? This sounds like more injustice and harassment to me.

Did we accuse John McCain of war crimes for singing "bomb, bomb Iran?"

It's not about a crime, it's about the authority and attempts to silence protest. And until something changes, people like Johnson will be rapping and singing about police harassment for decades to come.

      The good news is
this young man has a lawyer now and the ACLU at his back. He could get his sentence knocked down or thrown out in an appeal.

MAXINE, FOUR WORMS AND A LESSON 2 BE LEARNED (HUMOUR)

Four Worms and a lesson to be learned

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.

The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.

The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.

The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol -
      Dead.

The second worm in cigarette smoke -
      Dead

Third worm in chocolate syrup -
      Dead

Fourth worm in good clean soil -
      Alive.

So the Minister asked the congregation -

      What
did you learn from this demonstration?

      Maxine was s
itting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said,

'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate,
      you won't have worms!'

That pretty much ended the service.
